Which Quivori book suits my child?

Some children want you to read them a story. Some want to decide what happens next. Others reach for their colouring pencils. All four Quivori books share an imaginative world, but offer different ways to enjoy it.

For a bedtime story: ages 3–7

Mavzi and the Missing Star follows a little orange creature searching for his favourite star. Choose this illustrated story for a younger listener who enjoys magical creatures, a gentle adventure and the warmth of an unexpected friendship. Read it together and leave space to look at the pictures.

For a child who asks “What if?”: ages 6+

Start with Quivori: Don’t Look Down. The reader becomes the hero, makes choices and searches the pictures for clues. It suits a child who enjoys exploring possibilities and revisiting a decision to find out what else could happen.

For another mystery: ages 6+

Quivori: Don’t Turn Around introduces Tib, a tiny door and an unsettling copying mystery. It is a natural next adventure after Book One, and also provides a starting point for new readers who are drawn to its premise.

For an imaginative colouring session

The Quivori Colouring Book contains 40 magical pictures. Choose it for someone who enjoys creating their own version of a fantasy world. Their interest in colouring, and the cover’s level of detail, can help you decide whether it suits them.

Choosing for siblings or reading together

Ages are starting points rather than a test. A child may enjoy listening to an adventure before reading it independently. With siblings, let one read, another look for clues and both discuss the choice. For quieter shared time, pair a story with a separate colouring session.

Friendship across the collection

Magic, adventure and friendship connect the collection in different ways. Mavzi and the Missing Star centres on kindness, curiosity and an unexpected friend. The choose-your-path adventures offer discovery, decisions and companionship. The colouring book celebrates imagination and creativity. Choose the experience your child most enjoys.

Questions parents ask before choosing

Which Quivori book suits a six-year-old?

For a six-year-old who enjoys listening to a story, Mavzi and the Missing Star sits within its 3–7 age range. For a child who wants to make decisions and explore a longer adventure, Don’t Look Down is written for ages 6–10. You can read the words aloud while your child chooses the route. Use the actual sample pages to judge the text and illustration style together.

Can we read the interactive adventures together?

Yes. One person can read while another chooses, or you can take turns. With siblings, try letting one child look for picture clues and the other read the options, then swap. The guide to interactive adventure books for children explains the chapter choices with a real example from Book One.

Does my child need to read Book One first?

Starting with Don’t Look Down introduces the first adventure and Mavzi. Don’t Turn Around also provides a beginning for new readers, alongside routes for readers returning from Book One. Follow the starting instructions inside Book Two rather than assuming you must have finished every route in the first book.

How is the bedtime story different from the adventures?

Mavzi and the Missing Star follows one continuous story for ages 3–7. It is designed for sharing, with short passages and full-page illustrations. The adventures for ages 6–10 branch when the reader makes a choice, so returning to an earlier decision can reveal a different route. Compare the bedtime story spreads with the interactive adventure pages.

How detailed are the colouring pictures?

The colouring book contains 40 fantasy pictures. Look at the three sample colouring pages to judge the outlines, smaller details and your child’s interests. There is no need to have read the stories first to enjoy colouring the world.
