Interactive adventure books for children

Interactive adventure books for children invite the reader to decide what happens next. Instead of following every page in order, you reach a choice, pick a route and turn to the chapter it names. Quivori’s illustrated choose-your-path adventures are written for ages 6–10, with Mavzi beside you and hidden picture clues to discover.

How does a choose-your-path adventure work?

Begin with the story’s starting instructions. Read until the book offers a choice, decide what you want to do and follow the chapter number beside your chosen option. The large chapter number identifies where to go; the small number at the bottom identifies the page. They are different, so check the story heading when you turn.

A new choice may lead to a different place, encounter or ending. You can enjoy one route, then return to an earlier decision to discover what you missed. You do not have to read every chapter on your first visit.

Try a decision from Don’t Look Down

The first adventure begins with a fall into a world of floating islands. Mavzi is falling beside you, and his tiny wings are not much help. Do you aim for the floating forest, try to reach the upside-down city or grab Mavzi?

All three options appear in the opening. Choosing one sends you to its named chapter. The adventure continues from there, with another decision waiting further along. Look inside Don’t Look Down to see the opening and its choices before you buy.

Illustrations with something extra to find

The pictures are part of the experience. Hidden clues give curious readers another mystery to explore alongside the main adventure. Pause to look at a scene before choosing, or return later to search more carefully. You can still enjoy the story without solving the extra picture puzzle.

Follow any instructions about remembering an object, symbol or word. In Don’t Turn Around, for example, a word from your route matters later in the adventure. If a choice depends on something you collected earlier, check that it applies to your route.

What ages are the Quivori adventures for?

Don’t Look Down and Don’t Turn Around are illustrated fantasy adventures for children aged 6–10. A child’s interest and reading confidence matter alongside age. Some will enjoy reading independently; others will prefer an adult to read the words while they study the pictures and make the decisions.

The Book One sample pages and Book Two sample pages show the actual text, illustrations and choices. Use those to judge what feels comfortable for your child.

Reading together and sharing the choices

You can read aloud and let your child choose the route, take turns reading, or give siblings different jobs. One might read the choices while another looks for clues. Ask what they noticed and which option they want to try.

When two readers disagree, follow one suggestion and save the other for another visit. Different endings give you a reason to return. Stop at a natural break when you want to pause, and keep your place so you can continue the same route.

Which adventure should we start with?

Quivori Don’t Look Down introduces the first fall into Quivori and your orange companion, Mavzi. It is the natural place to begin if you want to meet the world from the start.

Quivori Don’t Turn Around brings a tiny wooden door, a worried courier called Tib and a shadow that copies what it sees. Its beginning includes instructions for new readers as well as readers returning from Book One. See a sample of the mystery.
